Our Team
Emily Shafran, MSW
Emily Shafran, MSW, is a psychotherapist and a graduate of Smith College School for Social Work, providing therapy for adults and partners in Northampton, MA and virtually across Massachusetts. She works with individuals and couples navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, relational conflict, identity shifts, and periods of internal or interpersonal transition.
In the therapy room, Emily brings her full self, her sense of humor and her love for creative arts. Her clinical approach integrates psychodynamic theory, attachment work, somatic awareness, and experiential methods. Emily has training in Chairwork and experiential trauma processes, including parts-based and visualization approaches designed to support integration and nervous system regulation. Her clinical orientation is also informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Gestalt and Narrative Therapy.
Emily holds a deep trust in the power of healing that happens in relationship. She also has a particular interest in working with partners. She helps couples slow down reactive cycles, stay with core feelings rather than defenses, and build relational habits rooted in curiosity, accountability and emotional safety.
Her practice is guided by political and ethical commitments. Emily recognizes that inner experience is shaped by histories of power, identity, and culture—race, class, gender, sexuality, ability and belonging all influence how we love, what feels possible and where safety lives. She brings a grounded awareness of systemic context not as theory but as lived, felt experience that shows up in the body, in relationship and in the therapeutic space.

Bruno Trindade, LCSW
Bruno focuses on helping people work through major life transitions including struggles with depression and anxiety. He works collaboratively and finds that re-framing their struggles as only one part of their identity helps to develop new ways of engaging and relating to the many aspects of oneself. This shift opens a space for compassion, healing, and over time a more integrated sense of self. He also offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Re-Processing), an evidence-based treatment for conditions such as PTSD, Anxiety and Depression as well as EFT Attachment Couples Therapy.
Bruno brings an eclectic approach to therapy to determine what tools work best for each individual, always grounded in a deeply relational viewpoint. He applies a mixture of somatic elements including mindfulness, visualization, Gestalt therapy, psychodynamics, and Internal Family Systems. Bruno’s perspective is also informed by his practice and teaching of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art. His experience utilizing his mind and body to move intentionally through challenging maneuvers, always with awareness of the other participants, influences his embodied-relational therapy practice. Bruno holds a Master’s in Social Work from Smith College, and has additional degrees in Comparative Religion and Computer Science.
Licensed in both Massachusetts (LCSW) and New York (LMSW).
