Cost can be an obstacle to starting therapy. We are offering a limited duration private-pay option for people with insurance carriers that are not in-network and our standard fee is a barrier to care. Reduced fee sessions are provided by a Smith College graduate-level clinician completing a supervised Master’s in Social Work clinical placement with Somatic Psychotherapy Group. Treatment from a graduate student provides an opportunity to work with someone receiving intensive training and guidance by multiple experienced clinicians.
$50 for a 55-minute Individual Session*
$75 for a 60-minute Couples Session*
*Sessions are provided by an advanced MSW intern completing a supervised clinical placement.
This is a private pay only arrangement, separate from our insurance-based services, intended for people who are uninsured, out-of-network, facing a high deductible, or otherwise have difficulty affording our standard fees.
Sessions are available in person at our Northampton office or virtually within Massachusetts.
This Option is a Good fit for you if:
- The cost of therapy has been prohibitive.
- You're uninsured, between plans, or your insurance doesn't cover mental health the way you need it to
- You're comfortable working with a clinician who is still completing graduate training while under ongoing clinical supervision
- You're looking for individual or couples support and don't need a specific licensed specialist
- You can work within a defined timeframe — this placement runs through April 30, 2027, with a planned transfer or referral at the end
Fees & Getting Started
Reduced fee sessions are private pay only. We are not able to bill insurance for these sessions, provide a superbill, or issue documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.
This is a time-limited training placement, running through April 30, 2027. We name that timeframe at the start of care and work with it openly, with a thoughtful transfer or referral plan as the placement winds down.
Reduced fee openings are limited and managed through a waitlist - Please fill out the form below.
Reduced Fee Therapy
Isabella Lecona, MSW Intern
Isabella (Isa) Lecona is a second-year MSW student at the Smith School for Social Work whose clinical work is grounded in a trauma-informed, relational and liberatory approach. Her interest in somatic psychotherapy grew from her own background in dance and embodied movement instruction, through which she developed the motto, “sometimes to get out of your head, you have to get into your body.” Through previous clinical experiences, Isa has become increasingly interested in the ways that trauma, relationships, and experiences of oppression can become held in our minds and bodies. Isa believes that somatic therapy creates space to attend to those embodied experiences while honoring each person’s unique history, identity, and ways of healing.
In her work with clients, Isa draws from Liberation Psychology to understand each person within the broader social, cultural, and relational contexts that shape their lives. Isa practices with humor, non-judgement, and curiosity. She hopes to create a warm, collaborative therapeutic space where clients know that they are the experts on their own experiences, and feel supported as they discover not only what they want to heal from, but also what they wish to move towards.
